College Town and Beach Coffee - wtf?

(Seaside Park - January 2024)

Hour 10 of hitting the books. You’re nose deep in your senior thesis and you’ve hit the biggest brick wall imaginable. You’re trying to focus, but you need some motivation. Time to grab a round of coffee.

It’s the dog days of summer. You’re sweating your **** off after 4.5 hours at the beach. Another mojito??? No. Water??? Of course not. It’s iced coffee time.

What do these 2 scenarios ultimately have in common? The end result = terrible coffee. In an over saturated market where EVERYONE does coffee, there’s always at least one diamond in the rough, but 9 times out of 10 you’re staring down an over priced gimmick. The plus side? There’s always a nice lounge area or cool photo op which at least makes the experience worth it. A little treaty treat could save the day too, but you always find yourself feeling a little empty inside after getting served the most expensive cup of Folgers at your college bookstore or an $8 cup of diluted bean water at the beach. Why is it so hard to find a good cup of Joe near colleges or beaches? Coffee Gods - we need answers!
